Connect an AI assistant

Your assistant can create private systems, edit components and cables, find purchase dates for your History, and read your wiring and Journal. Ask it to show proposed changes before saving them.

Included with Pro and Premium.

How to connect

  1. 1

    Use your HiFimap account

The assistant works with systems saved to your account. You can use an existing system or ask it to create a private draft.

  2. 2

    Add HiFimap as a connector

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the address below. Other assistants that support MCP work the same way.

  3. 3

    Sign in and allow

Your assistant opens HiFimap. Sign in and press Allow. You can do this once and keep the connection.

  4. 4

    Ask it to backfill

If the assistant can also search your email, ask it to find your purchases and sales and add what's missing.

Things to ask

  • “Create a private system called Study setup, then add my DAC and amplifier. Don't publish it.”
  • “Search my email for hi-fi equipment I've bought or sold, compare with my HiFimap History, and show me what's missing before adding it.”
  • “When did I buy my DAC? Update the date in HiFimap.”
  • “Correct the name of my old DAC in HiFimap to Chord Qutest, keeping its dates and notes.”
  • “Look at how my system is wired in HiFimap. Is there anything in the cabling or power setup you would change?”
  • “Read my HiFimap Journal and summarise how my impressions changed after the latest upgrade.”
  • “Add the cartridge swap on my turntable from last spring as a change in HiFimap.”
  • “Add my new DAC to the current system and connect it to the amplifier. Show me the changes before saving.”
  • “Remove my old amplifier from the map but keep its History. Show me which cables will be disconnected first.”
  • “Change my speaker cable length to 8 feet and its termination to Spades.”

What it can and can't do

  • It can create private systems and start adding components without publishing. Private drafts count toward your plan's system limit alongside published systems. Open them from My systems; publishing stays a separate action in HiFimap.
  • It can read your saved systems, their component and cable History, how everything is wired (cables, signal direction and lengths, and how mains power reaches each device) and your Journal posts, including drafts.
  • It can add past components, set dates and notes, and record changes like new tubes or a cartridge.
  • It can correct names, descriptions and specifications on existing current or past components.
  • It can add and edit current components, remove them while keeping History, and restore past components. Restoration does not reconnect old cables.
  • New current components are wired automatically using the same rules as the editor, including mains power when a power source exists. Manual cables stay unchanged. Ask for no automatic wiring if you prefer to connect them yourself.
  • It can add, edit and disconnect signal, network and power cables, including lengths, terminations and dates.
  • Changes go directly to your saved system; for published systems they also update the shared page. Private drafts stay private. Preview changes first. Removal and disconnection require your approval in the assistant.
  • Overlapping saves are rejected rather than overwriting newer changes. Assistant edits are not part of the editor's Undo history.
  • It cannot permanently delete components, clear or delete systems, or write or publish Journal posts.
  • It only sees your own account, and you can remove the connection in your assistant at any time.
  • Reload your system in HiFimap after the assistant has made changes, before you edit it yourself.
